Sara A. Wallace, of Friendship, died on Dec. 17, after a short illness surrounded by her family. She was born in Waldoboro, on July 25, 1926 the daughter of Thomas Cunliffe Ashworth and Mildred Iva Richardson. She attended local schools and St. Johnsbury Academy in Vermont. After graduation she received beautician training and worked for many years in Waldoboro. Later she worked as a CNA, which she greatly enjoyed.
On April 27, 1947 she married Robert W. Wallace of Friendship. They were happily married for 56 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved cooking, knitting and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She also enjoyed trips to the Moosehead Lake area with her husband each year during moose season.
She was predeceased by her husband and two children, son Robert and infant daughter, Roberta. Survivors include two daughters, Midi Gahagan and husband, Larry of Friendship and Margo Zuber and husband, Bill of Rockland; grandchildren, Amy Tyler and husband, Duane of St. George, Joshua Gahagan and wife, Becca of Friendship, Sara and Isaac Zuber of Rockland; great grandchildren Paige and Emily Tyler of St. George; many in-laws, nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law and friend, Evelyn Winchenbach of Friendship.
A private service for the family will be held in the spring at the Village Cemetery at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. George School, PO Box 153, St. George, ME 04860, where her great grandchildren attend school.
