Sheila Carroll lost her 3-year courageous battle with ovarian cancer on March 13 in her home in Georgia, with her loving husband Bill Carroll by her side.
Sheila was born in Massachusetts on Dec. 14, 1953, to William and Julia Callahan.
She married William ‘Red’ Carroll on Aug. 14, 1971 and together they raised three children, Cheryl, Timmy, and Kevin.
Sheila was an active member in the TOPS/KOPS organization for many years, first in Texas, then here in Maine, and finally in Georgia. She was also passionately active in the charity cancer walks and organizations. In May of 2005 she was honored when she was chosen to carry the torch for cancer survivors in Georgia.
She enjoyed hiking, camping, hanging outdoors, sitting by the fire, walking with girlfriends, and spending time at Pemaquid Point in Maine. She never missed an opportunity to visit ‘The Point’ while in Maine, visiting her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and spoiling her three grandchildren, Briana, Sawyer and Gavin.
Sheila is survived by her husband of 35½ years, Bill Carroll of Georgia; daughter, Cheryl Pinkham and husband Jarrod Pinkham of Jefferson; sons, Timothy Carroll of Biddeford, and Kevin Carroll of Georgia; and grandchildren, Briana Carroll, and Sawyer and Gavin Pinkham of Jefferson. She is also survived by her parents, William and Julia Callahan of Massachusetts; sister, Julie and husband Bill with two nephews of Massachusetts; three sisters-in-law and their husbands; one brother-in-law; and over 30 nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A family service was held at Pemaquid Point March 25.
