Stephen Ronald Nickerson passed away on May 22, 2026 following a long illness. Born Dec. 31, 1955 in Belfast, he was the child of Ronald J. and Shirley (Kelley) Nickerson.
Stephen graduated from Belfast Area High School in 1974 and joined the U.S. Air Force stationed in Blytheville, Ark. He later joined the Air National Guard in Bangor. Stephen worked as an electrician and also worked at Robbin’s Lumber as a boiler operator.
Stephen loved to fish. He also spent many years hunting and trapping but fishing was his true love.
He was gifted with his hands and created many fine and intricate works of art with a scroll saw.
Stephen had a great sense of humor and was known to tell tall tales. He loved children.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sons, Chad I. Nickerson and Jerry Nickerson, of Swanville; granddaughter, Ava Nickerson; his sister, Julie Knight and her husband, Bill Knight, of Round Pond; sister, Mary Miller, of Oakland; nephews, Matthew Nickerson, of Round Pond, and Ethan and Brittany Knight, of Bristol; and great-niece and nephews, Leah, Anthony, and E.J.
A celebration of life will be at The Legion in Belfast on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at noon.
