Steven W. Ell, 63, of Westport Island, died July 12 at UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worchester, Mass.
He was born in Malden, Mass. on Feb. 27, 1952, a son of John G. and Myrtle C. (Steele) Ell.
He attended Malden schools and graduated from Andover High School. He was employed at Hall Equipment and Eastern Technology before moving to Westport Island. He was employed at Bath Iron Works for many years. On Oct. 14, 2011 he married Deborah Richards, and they resided on Westport Island.
He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Lincoln County Rifle Club, and the NRA.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, guns, and cars.
He is survived by wife, Deborah A. Ell of Westport Island; father, John G. Ell; sons, Steven Ell Jr. of South Portland, and Brian Ell of New Gloucester; step-daughters, Jennifer Frazier and husband Scott of Brunswick, and Stephanie Clayter and husband Nate Addy of Waldoboro; brother-in-law, Walter Winchenbach of Franklin, Va.; sister-in-law, Kat Winchenbach of Franklin, Va.; granddaughter, Maddy; five step-grandchildren, and one step-great-granddaughter.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m, Sat., Aug. 8 at the Old Westport Town Hall. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset. The family encourages everyone to become an organ donor.
