Vivianne “Vikki” Ardelle Paiement Hilton, 66, passed away peacefully on Aug. 8 at her daughter’s home on the Mills Road in Newcastle, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. She was born in Brunswick on Oct. 30, 1948, the daughter of the late Roger Alpha Paiement and late Marilyn Ardelle (Nickerson) Paiement.
Vikki was raised in Brunswick, and educated in Brunswick schools until her senior school year, when she moved to Windham and graduated from Windham High School, class of 1967. Soon after graduating, she met and married the love of her life, Walter Hilton. They married on March 23, 1968, and settled down and raised three beautiful children, Scott, Heidi, and Heather Hilton.
Vikki was employed by Housing for Maine for many years. She earned EMT and CNA certificates, as well as a real estate license. She loved taking care of people.
Her passion in life was writing murder mysteries, and performing at Norumbega Castle in Camden. She was an accomplished writer, she loved to write a script and see the performers bring it to life. She loved to sing and dance. She was a true friend and confidante to all. She would reach out to many a person in need and give them her whole, and in turn for many of them, she became their lifeline, their anchor, a person they could trust and rely on. She was loved by the entire community.
For over 20 years, she and Walter would take in homeless people, and people with disabilities. Sometimes for days, others for years. There was always an open door and an open heart. She was a beloved wife, a wonderful mother, a terrific grandmother, a great sister, the best cousin ever, and an amazing friend to all. She was an incredible person, an individual whose outlook on life was living it to the fullest and then some. She remained brave and iron-willed, throughout her illness.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Walter Hilton; son, Scott and wife Carolee Hilton; daughters, Heidi and husband Jigger Clark, and Heather and husband John Hartford III, all of Damariscotta; grandchildren, Devan Clark, Robert (Robie) Clark, Brendan Mammina, Christine Hilton, Madison (Maddy) Hartford, and John (Jack) Hartford IV; along with countless grandchildren by love; sister, Pamela Jones of Florida; brothers, Andrew Conrad Paiement of Cape Cod, Mass. and Harry Bedigan IV of North Yarmouth; many nieces and nephews; and Ben Okey, Vikki’s nephew and caregiver.
A celebration of her beautiful life will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., Aug. 15 at the Second Congregational Church in Newcastle. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Vikki’s life.
