Wesley Richard Anderson Jr., 97, of Waldoboro, passed away May 24. He was born Nov. 7, 1917 in Bantam, Conn. to Wesley Richard and Mary Ellen (Brennan) Anderson Sr.
Wes attended schools in Bantam, Conn. and Morris, Conn. After high school he worked at Camp Columbia as a caretaker and for the Department of Transportation and Public Works doing odd jobs. He then worked at Torrington Co. as a machinist before joining the U.S. Army and serving our country during WWII. After the war, he returned to Torrington Co. until his retirement in 1982.
Wes enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and tinkering with and fixing things for his friends and family. He loved to spend time with and spoil his granddaughters. He was a Master Mason, a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Order of the Purple Heart.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Blieler; niece, Doris Blieler; and nephew, Bob Conlin.
He is survived by his wife, Sally L. Anderson of Torrington, Conn.; daughter, Toby Anderson (Alfred Sr.) McKay of Waldoboro; granddaughters, Erin Desrochers of Waldoboro, and Adrienne (Delmar) Randall of Rockland; step-grandsons, Alfred (Bonnie) McKay Jr. of Waldoboro, and Michael McKay of Wiscasset; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Zoe Randall and Isabella Kendall; step-great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Breanna, Shawn, Angel Rose, Tyler, Kaleb, and Shyann McKay; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Wed., June 3 at Hall Funeral Home in Waldoboro.
