Wilbur J. Paine Jr. of Barefoot Bay, Fla. died on July 29 at Consulate Health Care in Vero Beach, Fla.
He was born in Lawrence, Mass. on Aug. 10, 1935, and moved to Barefoot Bay 20 years ago from Brunswick. He spent summers at his cottage on Damariscotta Lake in Nobleboro.
Mr. Paine worked at Rowe Yankee Atomic Power Co. in Rowe, Mass. from 1960 until 1970 when he and his family moved to Maine. From 1970 until he retired in 1990 he was employed by Maine Yankee Nuclear Electric Company in Wiscasset. He served in the U.S. Army.
Bill was a member of the American Legion in Damariscotta, the Loyal Order of Moose and Orioles Nest in Micco, Fla. He was a communicant at St. Luke’s Church in Barefoot Bay and St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Nancy (Jordan) Paine of Barefoot Bay and Nobleboro; daughter, Mary E. Leeman of Bailey Island; sons, William H. Paine of Winchester, Mass. and Donald W. Smith of Erving, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial mass 11 a.m., Fri., Aug. 27 at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle.
