William W. Pearce died on Oct. 28 at Maine Medical Center.
Bill was born on Aug. 1, 1944 in Exeter, N.H. to Claudia and William Pearce. Hazel and Walter Preston raised Bill after his mother died. Bill refers to their natural son, Gerry, as his brother. Gerry Preston and his wife now live in Edgewater, Fla.
Bill lived most of his youth in Lee, N.H. He attended Oyster River High School and then the University of New Hampshire where he earned a BS degrees in electrical engineering and economics. After earning his masters degree in EE at Carnegie Mellon, he joined Bell Labs in Whippany, N.J. Initially, Bill worked in the military sector, and then transferred into the telephony business. He retired from Telcordia in 1999 and moved to Jefferson where he enjoyed his passion for sailing on Maine waters. Bill was a member of the Jefferson Planning Board and the Lincoln County Regional Planning Committee.
Bill is survived by his soul mate, Dorothy Alt, of more than 40 years; Gerry Preston; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tues., Nov. 13 in Lee Hill Cemetery, 7 Mast Rd., Lee, N.H.
