Labor Day offers us the opportunity to thank those whose labor infuses our lives with well-being. Those who stock shelves at our local grocery stores, the bank clerks, insurance officers, store clerks, health care professionals, police and fire department personnel, those who work in our local town offices, to name a few. We are very grateful to the myriad contributions these workers make to our common good every day.
With the preparation of Inn Along the Way’s 10-year appreciation celebration last weekend, I am perhaps more mindful this Labor Day of the collective care and endeavors our volunteers and patrons provide. For over a decade I have walked beside these giants, some of whom went before us. These folks graciously shared their abilities, skills, time, effort, sweat, and support to co-create the Inn Along the Way community. The magnitude and significance of their contributions is the bedrock on which we continue to grow and flourish. The work of many continues to benefit us all.
If you haven’t stopped in to learn more about this dynamic community, please do! We’re happy to pour you a cup of tea and give you a tour. We’re located at 741 Main St. in Damariscotta. Our office hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Remember, if you’ve lost a loved one and are grieving, are a caregiver in need of support; or if you are at a point of transition and in need of a sounding board or friendly companionship, you are not alone. Please call 207-751-6261, or e-mail us at info@Innalongtheway.org
(Inn Along the Way is a non-profit organization with the goal of transforming the historic 31-acre Chapman Farm in Damariscotta into an innovative neighborhood-style setting for older adults and caregivers. The finished project will consist of small, environmentally-friendly homes. There will be respite cottages for caregivers, an artist-in-residence cottage, quiet house.)
