To the Editor:
Bruce MacDonald has worked tirelessly supporting communities that wish to preserve local governance of their schools. Reflecting the consensus of legislative District 61, he opposed the consolidation plan.
After he lost that vote in the legislature, he voted for the budget package, which had reinserted the consolidation language into the budget proposal. He continues to seek ways to preserve local governance of schools in the face of budget constraints and administrative overhead costs.
As an educator who has worked at all levels of the educational spectrum – preschool through university graduate education – I have been in close contact with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators. I understand and appreciate the importance of preserving local governance of public schools.
It’s hard to imagine a more dedicated public servant than Bruce MacDonald. He has worked diligently over the past two years to represent the people in the 61st District.
He is a strong leader. Bruce believes in the value of the education of this nation’s children and the public education system that makes this possible. He believes that strong public schools start with supportive communities. They are the heart and soul of community life. Bruce MacDonald has put his heart and soul into representing us well. We need his effective and energetic leadership to continue.
