To the Editor:
It was my distinct honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Lincoln County as District 3 Commissioner for 20 years. When I chose not to run for re-election in 2000, I was pleased to hear that Sheridan Bond was interested in seeking that office. Since then, the district and the county as a whole have been well represented by this businessman with strong local connections.
Both Sheridan and his opponent are fine local gentlemen with extensive service to their communities. The people of Lincoln County are fortunate to have two such committed native citizens of the county running. The difference between the two is largely maturity and experience, and for those reasons I support Commissioner Sheridan Bond for re-election as Lincoln County Commissioner for District 3.
It is not necessary for me to go through the entire litany of Commissioner Bond’s experience and accomplishments in municipal and county government and the Jefferson Fire Department. Suffice it to say that he is a proud resident of Lincoln County, careful with the taxpayer’s dollars and foresighted when it comes to the long term needs of Lincoln County. I strongly urge the citizens of District 3 to consider these qualities when they close the voting curtain behind them.
