To the Editor:
I wish to thank all of the voters of Maine House District 50 for their consideration of my candidacy this year. It’s been a great experience for me to have this exchange of ideas with my opponent, other candidates, town officials, and most importantly, you the voters.
Democracy, as practiced in our republic, is a process. We live and learn as we go. I look forward to continuing to learn in my service, as Selectman in Nobleboro.
I know for most people, it’s been a long election cycle. From my perspective, as a replacement candidate, it really wasn’t all that long.
I hold no hard feelings about losing. Not many people ever choose to run for office, which is unfortunate, because I found the experience itself rewarding. Also, I hold some distinction in losing both the primary and general election in the same year. It’s not without precedence in Maine, but it is a rarity.
Given what we read in the papers, our two elected representatives, Sen. Trahan and the Honorable Wendy Pieh, will have their work cut out for them. They both have my congratulations and support.
Henry B. Simmons, Nobleboro
