Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On Oct. 28, Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore was dispatched to a report of a burglary and criminal mischief to a summer residence in the Nobleboro area. The caretaker of the residence noticed that someone had entered the residence, although it is unknown at this time if anything is missing. This case was turned over to the Criminal Investigative Division for further investigation.
On Oct. 28, Deputy 1st Class Mark Bridgham was dispatched to a report of a theft of a 14-foot Smoker Craft skiff (value: $3,500) with a 25-horsepower Yamaha motor (value: $3,200) from an inlet off Cross Point Road, Edgecomb. This case was transferred to Maine Marine Patrol for further investigation.
On Oct. 30, Sgt. Alan Shea was dispatched to a report of a burglary and theft from a residence in the Bristol area. The complainant said that sometime during the overnight hours, someone entered her residence and stole some prescription medication. Further investigation will follow as leads develop.
Oct. 27, Richard J. Kinghorn, 38, of Thomaston, was issued summonses for operating after suspension – prior and operating vehicle without a license, on Route 1, Newcastle, by Deputy 1st Class Bridgham.
On Oct. 27, an accident occurred on Grand Army Road in Whitefield involving Heather Northrup, 41, of Whitefield, and Zachary D. Peterson, 26, of Whitefield. Northrup was operating her 2012 Kia Sorrento eastbound through a school zone and Peterson was following Northrup in his 1998 Jeep Cherokee. Peterson was blinded by sun glare and struck the rear of Northrup’s vehicle. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 27, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Michael Dubord, 56, of Nobleboro. Dubord was operating his 2014 Dodge Ram southbound when a deer crossed the road in front of him and was struck. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 28, an accident occurred on Pemaquid Harbor Road in Bristol involving John M. Utley, 30, of Boothbay. Utley was operating his 2005 Volkswagen Jetta southbound when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Sgt. Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 28, an accident occurred on Cedar Grove Road in Dresden involving Stacy L. Labombard, 35, of Alna. Labombard was operating her 2011 Nissan Rogue northbound when a deer crossed the road in front of his vehicle and was struck. Deputy Poirier was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 29, an accident occurred on Kelly Brook Road in Boothbay involving Patricia A. Wilkins, 80, of Boothbay. Wilkins was driving her 2008 Ford Fusion out of her driveway when she came upon her neighbor’s fence, which had fallen down partially into the driveway. Wilkins attempted to drive around the fence and as she did, she struck a tree on the edge of the driveway. Deputy 1st Class Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 29, an accident occurred on Old Mill Road in Jefferson involving Gary D. Higgins, 46, of Jefferson. Higgins was operating his 2013 Toyota Sienna northbound when a deer crossed the road in front of his vehicle and was struck. Deputy Poirier was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 28, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Victor A. Mangandid, 18, of Boynton Beach, Fla., and David M. Fields, 52, of Newcastle. Mr. Mangandid was operating his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado southbound when he drifted onto the shoulder, overcorrected, and drifted into the northbound lane. Fields was operating his 2000 Volkswagen Jetta northbound and attempted to swerve to avoid Mangandid’s vehicle in the northbound lane, however, was unable to. As a result, Mangandid struck Field’s vehicle while 3 feet over the centerline into the northbound lane. Sgt. Brendan Kane was the investigating officer.
