Riverside Masonic Lodge No. 135 and Eastern Star No. 179, in Jefferson, are offering a scholarship, the Don Pierce Memorial Scholarship, to a Jefferson student who is or will be attending a tech school or vocational college.
Don Pierce was an active Mason and OES member for more than 65 years. He spent his entire career teaching woodshop, mechanical drawing, and shop math at Cony High School in Augusta. Pierce was the director of vocational education, and planned and directed the construction of the Capital Area Technical Center.
One should send one’s name, the school one plans to attend, one’s major, length of program, and parents’ name and address and phone number to Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 64, Jefferson, ME 04348.
Please include parents’ occupations and places of employment, how many siblings are in college, and list any relatives with Masonic ties. One should list the community and school activities one is involved in and write a brief explanation about oneself and why one should be considered for the scholarship.
