Kayleigh Tolley
Kayleigh Tolley, who is 18 and a senior at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, will hold a senior recital at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Newcastle on Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m.
Tolley has grown up on stage in the Midcoast area dancing, singing, and acting, beginning with “The Nutcracker” ballet with Midcoast Dance Studio at the age of 3, continuing with nearly hundreds of dance, choral, and theater productions with the Waldo Theatre, Damariscotta Montessori School, Lincoln Academy, Heartwood Regional Theater Company, Lincoln County Community Theater, StudioRed, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Tapestry Singers, and Boothbay’s Y-Arts.
Tolley has studied voice with Beth Preston since elementary school and in her sophomore year began training in classical voice. In the last three years, she has competed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing musical festival competition at Bates College in both musical theater and classical singing styles, and has been chosen as a finalist and/or won her division each year.
Tolley participated in district and all-state music festivals all four years of high school. After a summer vocal intensive last year with Artsbridge at the University of Minnesota, she began exploring colleges and conservatories where she could explore her love of classical singing. She was accepted into all the programs where she applied, but chose Oberlin College and Conservatory to continue her studies this fall.
Tolley currently sings with the Lincoln Academy Lincolnaires, Tapestry Singers, and the St. Patrick’s Church Choir, where she also serves as a cantor at mass. She is excited to share some of her favorite songs with her family, friends, and community at her senior recital at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, located at 380 Academy Hill Road, Newcastle.
Admission to Tolley’s recital is free, although donations will be accepted at the door for some of her favorite charitable causes.
