BeeBee Naylor and Wendy Dinsmore will be rekindling the South Bristol Girl Scout Troop 1677 this fall. The bus will drop the girls off at the South Bristol firehouse after school every other Tuesday.
Power to the people
I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their flexibility Thursday, Sept. 6. It was quite an afternoon! The power went out around 1:20 p.m. and the road was closed a couple of miles up Route 129 for safety reasons. There were lots of questions regarding how dismissal was going to go, as no timetable was given as to when the road would open back up. Parents were notified we would hold students at school until the road was passable according to fire department officials. The road was opened to traffic at 3:45 p.m., the bus arrived, and students were safely dismissed at 3:55.
Students, parents, and teachers made what could have been a very difficult situation into a rather seamless afternoon. It was certainly inconvenient for all, but everyone stepped up and handled it well. Thank you to all for your flexibility and understanding.
No more straws
In an attempt to be more environmentally conscious, kitchen manager Jessica Chadwick has removed plastic straws from the food service program. She is anticipating taking further steps to reduce plastic in the future. Stay tuned.
