Ten-year-old Aleeya Jones, a fifth grade student at Wiscasset Christian Academy turned a lot of heads on March 16 at Holyoke College in Massachusetts when she tried out for the Future Select Volleyball Team for Team USA alongside of 19-year-olds.
Jones has been a starting member of Wiscasset Christian’s high school volleyball team since the third grade. Her mother Julie coaches the team, and Aleeya has been playing since she could catch a ball.
She also plays volleyball for the Maine Juniors in Portland. She practices once or twice a week with them, and attends tournaments on weekends. The past two weekends, she has competed in New Hampshire.
