Lincoln Academy boysLincoln Academy boys’ basketball team opens their 2010-11 season on Fri., Dec. 10 at home against Leavitt. JV play at 5:30 and varsity at 7 p.m.

The Eagles graduated four seniors (top four scorers), from a team that went 11-7 last year. They return a strong nucleus of players, including seniors Everett Martin, Kyle Scherer, Brandon Reilly, Zach Steeves and Cameron Dodge. Also playing on varsity are juniors Bo McLain, Ryley Leavitt, Dylan Leavitt, Stephen Quinlan, Merritt Wotton, Jalen Lincoln, and Nic Phinney, and sophomore Tom Masters. Lincoln Academy girlsLincoln Academy girls’ basketball team opens their season Fri., Dec. 10 on the road at Leavitt. Their home opener is Dec. 14 against Maranacook. Eight of the Lady Eagles 13 players are underclassmen. Lincoln girls were 7-11 last season.

Returning veterans include seniors Katherine Bolster, Anna Budrow (knee injury), Marni Jones, Kelsey Schwarz and Laura Soohey and sophomore Merissa Look. Also seeing varsity playing time this year are sophomores Lindsey Crider, Kelsey Peaslee and freshmen Jen Genthner, Danielle Peirce, Rachel Hughes, Colleen Trayers, and McKayla Brackett. Medomak boysMedomak boys’ basketball team graduated seven seniors from a team that went 15-5 in 2009-10. Last year’s team beat Presque Isle in the East quarterfinals and lost to Camden in the semifinals. Coach Nick DePatsy calls his 2010-11 team young, but his Panther squad has played solid in pre-season action.

Playing on this year’s squad are seniors Kyle Durkee, Isaac Durkee, Quinton Vannah and Travis Goldrup, and juniors Robbie Griffin, Deering Genthner, Isaac Greenrose, Alex Greenrose, Zack Judkins, and Shane Osier, and sophomores Brandon Soper, Wil Dow, Jonathan Hendrickson-Belloguet, Ryan Ripley, and John Murray.

Medomak boys open their season on the road Dec. 10 at Gardiner. Their home opener is Dec. 17 against Camden. Medomak girlsMedomak Valley girls’ basketball team opens their season home against Gardiner Fri., Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. The Lady Panthers wrapped up their 2009-10 campaign with a 14-5 record, losing to Nokomis in the East B quarterfinals. Medomak returns many veteran players from that team, including seniors Vanessa Davis, Nicole Weaver, Lindsay Ranquist, and Ericka Christensen.

Also playing on the 2010-11 team are seniors Kasey Benner, Ashley Rackliff, Roxanne Jelenfy, and Kelly Leidenroth, and juniors Mallory Conary, Mallory Robbins, Kayleigh Beckwith, and Alanna Vose. Wiscasset boysWiscasset boys’ basketball team graduated their leading scorer, but return the next five leading scorers from a team that went 12-7 in 2009-10. Wayne Benjamin returns as head coach for his second season. Team members include Tyler Sonia, Jordan Jones, Mason Brewer, Ashton Benn, Jason Weatherbee, Danny Murphy, Austin Haskell, Eddy Stewart, Jonathan Rines, Philipa Meses, and Caleb Bryant.

Wiscasset opens their season on Fri., Dec. 10 home against Hall-Dale. Game time is at 7 p.m. Wiscasset girlsWiscasset girls’ basketball team opens their season on Sat. Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. The Lady Redskins finished their 2009-10 season with a 3-15 record. First year coach Patrick Quinn is heading up the varsity program. Team members include Becca Slack, Alli Johnson, Carolyn Footer, Kayla Connors, Heidi Pinkham, Kasey Cromwell, Bri Goud, Hannah Campbell, Maddy Wehrle, and Michael Trudeau.
