Bath Hoops beat the Brunswick sixth grade team 43-41 in the championship match of the Wiscasset Parks and Recreation’s grade 5-6 boys basketball tournament on Sunday, March 29 in Wiscasset. Brunswick emerged from the losers bracket with a 5-1 record and beat previously undefeated Bath Hoops 28-23 to force a rematch for the title in the double elimination tournament.
Medomak placed third and advanced the furthest among the four Lincoln County squads that participated in the 13-team tournament. Medomak received a first round bye and then won two games before falling into the consolation bracket after losing to Bath Hoops in the fourth round. They were ousted from the tournament when they lost to Brunswick 6 in a semifinal game.
Boothbay had a strong tournament. They lost in the first round, and then won three games in the loser’s bracket before being dealt their second loss which ousted them from the tourney. Wiscasset 5 won a game and lost two, and Wiscasset 6 lost their first two games and were knocked into the consolation bracket where they won their final game to finish 1-2.
Richmond 28 – Wiscasset 5 20
Brooks James scored nine points to lead the Wiscasset fifth grade team. Also scoring for Wiscasset 5 were Gavin Wright 7 and Parker Nelson 4. Miles Golletti scored 10 points to lead Richmond to the win.
Brunswick 6 33 – Boothbay 29
Boothbay lost a close match to Brunswick 6 in the opening round of the tournament. Scoring for Boothbay were Wyatt Lassen 11, Finn Leeman 9, Ethan Copeland 5, Joshuan Stetson 3, and Finley Gatner 1. Peter McIntire led Brunswick 6 with 11 points.
Lisbon 37 – Wiscasset 6 25
Scoring for Wiscasset 6 in the opening round loss to Richmond were Brayden Benner 8, Henry Emerson and Landon Wallace 7 apiece, Emery Footer 2, and Charlie Herrick 1. Gabriel Johnson led Lisbon with 14 points.
Medomak 40 – Richmond 20
Sam Simmons had a game-high 18 points to lead Medomak to a decisive win in their opening game of the tournament. Also scoring for Medomak were Benny Taylor 7, Wyatt Griffin 6, Morgan Carlson 5, and Brayden Reichard 4. Eddie McDaniel led Richmond with seven points.

Boothbay 32 – Oceanside 25
Boothbay beat Oceanside 32 25 to notch their first win of the tournament. Scoring for Boothbay were Joshuan Stetson 9, Ethan Copeland 8, Finley Gatnar 5, Mackswell Cusumano and Naheem McInnis 4 apiece, and Roman Merino 2. Jonny Hill scored nine points to lead Oceanside.
Richmond 34 – Wiscasset 6 32
Landon Wallace tallied 22 points to lead the Wiscasset sixth grade team in a close loss to Richmond that dropped the host team into the consolation round of the tourney. Wiscasset 6 led 18-16 at halftime before suffering their second loss in the double elimination tournament. Also scoring for Wiscasset 6 were Henry Emerson and Brayden Benner 3 each, and Emery Footer and Charlie Herrick 2 apiece. Miles Golletti was the top scorer for Richmond with 20 points.
Wiscasset 5 33 – Lisbon 30
Sawyer Andrews scored 12 points to lead Wiscasset 5 to their first win. Also scoring for the Wiscasset fifth grade team were Harland Johnson 11, Parker Nelson 6, Gavin Wright 2, and Austin Shirey and Tucker Pendleton 1 each. Gabriel Johnson led Lisbon with 10 points.
Boothbay 30 – Bath Navigators 5
Finley Gatnar and Joshuan Stetson each scored 8 points to lead Boothbay to their second straight victory in the losers bracket. Also scoring for Boothbay were Ethan Copeland 5, Aidyn Peters 4, Naheem McIntire 3 and Henry Pinkham 2. Emery Trask led Bath with 5 points.

Medomak 44 – Brunswick 5 18
Sam Simmons scored 12 points to lead Medomak to their second straight win. Also scoring for Medomak were Brayden Reichard 9, Morgan Carlson 8, Wyatt Griffin 6, Lucas Bracket 4, Daniel Harrington 3, and Nicholas Marr 2. Dillon Rice led Brunswick 5 with eight points.
Boothbay 20 – Richmond 17
Johsuan Stetson and Ethan Copeland each scored six points to lead Boothbay to their third straight victory. Also scoring for Boothbay in the close match were Finley Gatnar 5, and Henry Pinkham 3. Miles Golletti led Richmond with 5 points.
Brunswick 6 42 – Wiscasset 5 14
Austin Shirey and Harland Johnson each tallied four points to lead Wiscasset 5 in scoring in their final game of the tournament. Also scoring for Wiscasset were Jack Kellett, Brooks James, and Parker Nelson with 3 points each. William Mingunda was the top scorer for Brunswick 6 with nine points.
Mt. View 34 – Boothbay 18
Joshuan Stetson scored seven points to lead Boothbay in a loss that ousted the squad from the double elimination tourney. Also scoring for Boothbay were Finley Gatnar 6, Ethan Copeland 3, and Roman Merino 2. Cole Wood was the top scorer for Mt. View with 10 points.
Bath Hoops 29 – Medomak 23
Morgan Carlson scored a dozen points to lead Medomak in a losing effort that knocked previously undefeated Medomak into the losers bracket. Also scoring for Medomak were Wyatt Griffin 6, Cristian Couch and Brayden Reichard 2 each, and Benny Taylor 1. Hayden Kotow led Bath Hoops with 14 points.
Wiscasset 6 22 – Navigators 13
Wiscasset 6 (1-2) notched their first win of the tournament in a consolation round tilt against the winless Bath Navigators (0-3). Scoring for Wiscasset were Henry Emerson 7, Landon Wallace 6, Brayden Benner 4, Emery Footer 3, and Charlie Herrick 2. Cole Beeton led Bath with five points.
Brunswick 6 41 – Medomak 19
Medomak (2-2) was ousted from the tourney in a semifinal match loss to Brunswick 6. Cristian Couch led Medomak with 8 points, Morgan Carlson had 5, and Wyatt Griffin, Nicholas Marr, and Lucas Bracket each scored 2. Peter McIntire led Brunswick with 13 points.
