Three Medomak Valley High School track and field athletes collected gold at the KVAC championships, held in Bath May 29. Morgan Baum won the javelin with a throw of 11’2″ and placed 3rd in the discus (97′). Alex MacKenzie won the long jump (19’6.75″) and was 5th in the triple jump (38’7.75″). Nathaniel Meade won the triple jump with a leap of 42 feet 1.5 inches. Meade also placed 5th in the long jump (18’3.25″).
Gwen Moiles placed 6th in the 1600 in 5:47 and Nicole Weaver 6th in the 800 in 2:36. Deering Genthner was 6th in the 100 sprint in 11.95. Patrick O’Donnell placed 3rd in the 1600 in 4:39 and 6th in the 200 in 23.83. Josh Parmenter was 5th in the 300 hurdles in 43.67.
The Lady Panthers placed 2nd in the 4×800 relay in 10:35 with Kiana Ocean, Moiles, Weaver and Megan Wyllie; 4th in the 4×400 relay in 4:46 with Heidi Harris, Weaver, Emily Leach and Kelsey Grady.
Medomak boys took 3rd in the 4×400 in 3:39 with Devin Sproul, Parmenter, Nate McBrien and P. O’Donnell; 3rd in the 4×100 in 46.69 with Meade, MacKenzie, Jonathan Hendrickson and Genthner; and 6th in the 4×800 in 9:27 with Joe Murphy, Brendan O’Donnell, McBrien and Taylor Packard.
Medomak girls tied for 7th overall out of 13 teams. Waterville won with 211.5, Winslow 66, Belfast 63, Leavitt 57, Maranacook 32, Mt.View 30, Gardiner 26, Medomak 26, Camden 25, MCI 22, Nokomis 10.5, Rockland 10, Lincoln 5, and Erskine 5.
Waterville won the boys’ KVAC team title with 122.5, followed by Erskine 119, Maranacook 71, Belfast 55, Medomak 48.5, Winslow 36, Leavitt 36, Camden 33, MCI 31, Mt.View 16, Lincoln 8, Rockland 7, and Gardiner 6.
