Lincoln Academy boys placed third and the girls fourth in the KVAC Class B cross-country championships on Saturday at Cony High School in Augusta.
Waterville’s Nick Dall won the boys race in 17:46 out of a field of 79 runners, to lead the Purple Panthers to a KVAC team title. Belfast was second with 90 points, followed by Lincoln 103, Maranacook 110, Morse 127, Camden 149, Winslow 182, Erskine Academy 183, MCI 207, Leavitt, 247, Medomak Valley 257, and Oceanside 337.
The top two LA Eagles crossed the finish line with the exact same time of 18:49.1. Noah Jordan edged Sam Russ for the first time all season in the photo finish, to take eighth place and Russ ninth. Abe Steinberger placed 25th in 19:55; followed by 29. Ian Stapp, 20:05; 32. David Barnum, 20:10; and 45. Riley Cushing, 21:09.
Daniel Bubar paced the Medomak Panthers, placing 13th in 19:21. Also running for Medomak were 54. Tyler Bowman, 21:41; 57. Deagan Poland, 22:03; 71. Drew Bubar, 24:42; and 72. Andrew Cronk, 25:00.
Girls results
Lauren Brown won the KVAC Class B crown in 19:52 to lead Waterville (52) to the KVAC title. Maranacook was second with 75, followed by Morse 82, Lincoln Academy 94, Camden Hills 109, Leavitt 110, Belfast 198, Erskine Academy 205, Medomak 224, and Winslow 251.
Emma Allen ran to a top 10 finish for the LA Eagles, placing eighth in 22:48. Allie Gorrill just missed the top 10, taking 11th in 23:01. Also running for Lincoln were 15. Tahlia Mullen, 23:31; 19. Maggie Nevens, 23:40; and 45. Nettie Hoagland, 25:30.
Abbie Griffin paced Medomak Valley, taking 40th in 24:59. Also running for the Lady Panthers were 46. Jill van der Schaff, 25:37; 49. Krista Hooper, 26:29; 52. Acadia Calderwood, 26:47; and 60. Rayanne Leach, 29:09.
