Boothbay Region High School senior Chase Brown placed 13th at the 77th New England Cross Country championships, held at Ponagansett High School in North Scituate, R.I. on Nov. 12. Brown completed the race in 16:17.
Maine placed five scoring runners in the top 20 in both the girls’ and boys’ races.
Mt.Valley Conference, and Class C champ Matt McClintock from Madison, placed third for the boys in 15:39. Eight runners broke 16 minutes in the race, featuring elite high school runners from all over New England.
The KVAC girls were well represented at the New England meet, with three runners placing in the top 20. Waterville’s Bethany Brown was fifth, Maranacook’s Abby Mace seventh, and Camden Hill’s Brittany Bowman was 17th.
