Camden Rockport 11&12 Little League all-stars defeated Waldoboro 16-15 in a slugfest Monday night in Rockport, in the first round of the District 2 playoffs.
Camden scored six runs in the top of the 1st. Waldoboro came back with nine in the bottom of the inning. Both teams plated three runs in the 2nd, and Camden tied the game 12-12 in the 3rd.
Camden added two runs in the 4th and one in the 5th to lead by three. Waldoboro scored two in the 5th to pull within one. Camden scored the game winner in the top of the 6th when Isaac Hall doubled home Cameron Gushee. Waldoboro rallied for one run in the home half of the final inning, but fell short of a comeback.
Hitting for Waldoboro were Riley McCollett with a homer and three doubles, Isaac Eustler 3 singles, Ollie Brown a homerun and single, Brady Luce a double and single, Channing Soper, Jacob Farrar and Patrick Whiter two hits each, Adam Eustler a double and Duncan Morrell a single.
Hitting for Camden were Gushee with a double and 4 singles, Jesse Frazier 3 singles, Hall 2 doubles, Connor Donahan and Nick Benner 2 hits each, Lucas Boetch a double, and Braden Fischer, Richard Volkey and Jackson Mooers a single each.
Brown, Soper and McCollett pitched for Waldoboro. McCollett took the loss.
