Brandon Campbell won two events at the Mt. Valley Conference championships, held at Lewiston High School on a rainy May 29. Campbell broke his own Wiscasset High School record in the 300 hurdles in a winning time of 40.01. He also won the 200 sprint in 23.26, and took third in the triple jump (38’9.25″).
Cameron Grover placed fourth in the 100-dash in 12.11 and tied for fifth in the 200 in 24.72.
Wiscasset boys placed fifth in the 4×400 relay in 3:58.87 and sixth in the 4×800 relay in 10:08.92. Running in the relays were Nick McLeod, Brad Whitaker, Jared Snell, Ross Hanley, Mike McAnn and Alex Smelcer.
Wiscasset boys placed seventh out of 14 teams. Lisbon won with 181, Hall-Dale 83.5, Madison 61, Winthrop 59.5, Boothbay 56, Telstar 52, Wiscasset 37.5, Livermore 30, Dirigo 29.5, Monmouth 17, Mt. Valley 14, Mt. Abram 11, Jay 6 and Carrabec 5
In the girls’ meet, Adrianne Berry placed fourth in the high jump (4’6″). Krista Bailey was sixth in the racewalk in 10:01, and Ariel Brown was seventh in the 400 in 1:09.
Lisbon won the MVC girls’ championship with 143 points, Hall-Dale 90, Winthrop 78, Telstar 54, Jay 51, Monmouth 36, Boothbay 35, Dirigo 34, Madison 29, Carrabec 26, Mt. Valley 24, Livermore 18, Mt.Abram 17 and Wiscasset 7.
“The whole team did a great job at this meet putting in some of the best performances of the season. It should be very exciting on this Saturday to see us compete at the State Class C meet at Morse High School. We have some athletes that really have a chance to become state champions in their respective events. We are hoping that the weather is good so we can really shine,” coach Warren Cossette said.
