Whitefield dominated every facet of the Sheepscot Valley Conference championship game against Chelsea Oct. 27 at Erskine Academy in South China.
The Wildcats held a 14-4 edge in shots, including out shooting Chelsea 3-0 in double overtime. After playing scoreless through regulation and two overtimes, the championship was decided on penalty kicks.
Chelsea won the SVC championship 1-0 after they scored on three of four penalty kicks. Asia DiBendetti, Kaitlyn Bielecki and Annie Brannigan scored on Chelsea’s first three attempts, putting the pressure on the Wildcats.
Chelsea keeper Sky Watson stopped the first two shots from Whitefield twins Hayden and Barrett Campbell, before Amber and Alison Grady scored to pull Whitefield within one. Alison Grady made a diving save on Chelsea’s fourth shot from Ashley Gilboy to keep Whitefield in the running. Allie Gorrill rang the left post on Whitefield’s fifth and final penalty kick.
Alison Grady made four saves for Whitefield and Watson made 10 saves for Chelsea.
