Sign-ups for Damariscotta River Lacrosse Club will be held at the CLC YMCA on Thurs., March 31 at 5:30 p.m. Veteran coach Jake Spearman will head up the program and coach the Red Tide team. The program is open to all grade six through eight players.
Spearman played lacrosse in high school and college, and has coached for five years. He spent the last three years coaching at Cardigan Mountain School in New Hampshire, and the previous two years in Ohio.
Players need to provide their own equipment. The Club has a limited amount of equipment to loan out. The team will start practicing as soon as the Great Salt Bay School field in Damariscotta is playable. The season extends through June.
“I would love it if there were any retired players that would like to help out,” Spearman said. He can be reached at 687-6021.
Spearman moved to Round Pond last August. He has four sons, three of which play lacrosse. “When I found out they needed help, I was happy to offer my services,” Spearman said of heading up the program.
