Lincoln Academy baseball crushed the ball this week to pick up three wins. The Eagles outscored their opponents 42-1 in wins over MCI (20-0), Leavitt (19-0) and Belfast (3-1). Lincoln’s record is 9-2
Lincoln collected 17 hits in the five inning mercy ruling win. Lincoln led 2-0 after four innings, before lighting up the scoreboard for six runs in the 6th inning and 11 in the 7th to win by a landslide. Hitting for the Eagles were Quinlan with four (3RBI), Leeman four (3RBI), McLain two (2RBI), Lamb two (1RBI), Kyle Scherer two, and Reilly (2RBI), Bo McLain (2RBI) and Wotton (1RBI) with a single each.

Brandon Reilly went the distance for the win, scattering seven hits (1B,12K,1HP). Mike Berry took the loss. Eric Peters faced one batter, Ben McLain, who hit a walk-off three run homerun in the bottom of the 8th for the win.
Belfast scored one run in the top of the 8th to put pressure on the Eagles. Derrick Bernoski drew a walk and Matt Sterrot was hit by a pitch. Jack Davis belted a shot to right field, that Eagles outfielder Merritt Wotton made a diving stab at. The hit was ruled a ground rule double, after umpires ruled it bounced over the fence. Fans from both dugouts said after the game that Wotton’s hand pulled down the plastic webbing on the fence and the ball soared over for what should have been a homerun.
Lincoln went to work in the bottom of the 8th. Wotton hit a one out single, and Quinlan drew a walk to set up Ben McLain’s three run walk-off homerun.
Hitting for the Eagles were Ben McLain with a homerun and single, Wotton a double and single, Lamb two singles and Reilly a double. Hitting for Belfast were Josh Beal with two singles, Davis a double, and Mike Berry, Bernoski, AJ Chasse and Nick Thibodeau a single each.
