Over a thousand runners and 50 teams battled wet conditions in the Festival of Champions at Belfast on Saturday. MDI boys and Falmouth girls won the team competition. Abbey Leonardi of Kennebunk won for the girls in 18:16, and Matt McClintock of Madison won for the boys in 16:38. There were 637 in the boys’ race and 457 finishers in the girls’ race.
Boothbay boys placed 14th, Medomak boys 24th and Lincoln boys 33rd out of 50 teams.
Boothbay’s Chase Brown broke into the top five with a 4th place finish in 16:38. Medomak’s Mason Vermilion placed 61st in 18:24. Also running for the Panthers were 78. Nick Anderson, 18:46; 112. Girls’ results
Boothbay’s Sophia Thayer placed in the top 25 with a 24th place finish in 21:11. Lincoln Academy runners Teiga Martin placed 77th in 22:37 and Hannah Fake placed 139th in 23:39. Boothbay girls placed 30th and Medomak 31st out of 40 teams.
Alyssa Griggs paced the Lady Panthers, placing 155th in 23:59; followed by 163. Heidi Harris, 24:06; 192. Jordan Hopkins, 24:36; 240 Abbie Vail, 25:17; 306. Shannon Staples, 26:33; 337. Missy Philbrook, 27:03; and 398, Kristi Severson, 28:53.
