A fast paced first quarter saw eight lead changes and five ties, before Taylor Reynolds hit a long three-pointer at the buzzer to put the Mustangs up by three. Everett Martin scored on a Jalen Lincoln feed and Stephen Quinlan crashed the glass for two to give the Eagles a one-point lead at the start of the second quarter.
Mount View rattled off seven straight to take a six-point lead. Quinlan cut it to four, and the Mustangs boosted it to five with a foul shot. Quinlan hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to pull the Eagles within two at the half, 24-26.
Lincoln scored 13 straight points in the third quarter to take the lead for good. Brandon Reilly led with seven, including a three, Dylan Leavitt added two baskets and Kyle Scherer one in the rally.
Lincoln held a 42-37 lead at the end of three and built it to 10 with five minutes to play. Bob Porter led the Mustangs on an 11-3 run to cut the lead to two. Lincoln went into a stall and Mt. View was forced to foul. Jalen Lincoln sank five of six foul shots in a 47 second span to seal the Eagles’ win.
Scoring for Lincoln were Quinlan with a career high 23 (2R,4S), Reilly 11 (2R,2S), Martin 10 (6R), Lincoln 7 (4R,2S, 7 for 8 from foul line), D. Leavitt 5, Nic Phinney 2, and Scherer 2. Scoring for Mt. View were Porter 18, Neally 9 (8R), Reynolds 7 (7R), Chris Montminy 6, Ryan St. Clair 3, Zach Mehuren 3 and Jalen Babin 2.
Lincoln led 9-8 at the quarter, trailed 17-19 at the half, and led 30-26 at the end of three. Winslow out scored Lincoln 20-13 in the final stanza to pull out the win.
“They had one player that hit some big shots,” coach John Gosselin said. Justin Murray scored nine of his game-high 19 points in Winslow’s fourth quarter comeback, including the tying 3-pointer with under a minute to play.
