Lincoln Academy boys’ basketball team crushed Fryeburg Academy Tuesday night, 69-48 in a West Class B preliminary match-up. With the win, Lincoln advances to the West B tournament. They play #2 seed Falmouth at the Portland Expo on Sat., Feb. 14 at 12:30 p.m. in the West B quarterfinals.
The Eagles jumped out to a 13-9 lead, then slowly pulled away from Fryeburg. Lincoln out scored their visitors 18-12 in the second frame to lead by 10 at the half, 31-21.
Lincoln went on an 11-2 run at the start of the 3rd quarter to put the game out of reach of Fryeburg. Ben McLain hit a three, Everett Martin connected at the line for a 3-pointer play, Matt Poole went inside for two and Patrick Mullin hit his third 3-pointer of the night to give the Eagles a 19-point lead. Lincoln led 54-33 at the 3rd period break, and maintained the lead in the final period.
