The former Peggy Lermond home, on Bunker Hill Road in Jefferson, was severely damaged by fire Sunday night. The house is owned by Rodney Grady, Jr., who was in the process of renovating it.
Jefferson Fire was called out at 8:20 p.m. No one was home at the time of the blaze.
“They were working on the place throughout the day and left there about 4 p.m. They left a (drop) light on,” Captain Danny Brilyea, who was the officer in charge, said.
Jefferson fireman Alan Johnston was the first to arrive on scene. “It was fully involved on the north end,” Johnston said when he arrived.
Updates on the fire will be reported in the April 22 edition of The Lincoln County News.
