Calling all runners! Medomak Valley Land Trust will host a trail run on Saturday, April 13 at 8:30 a.m., at the Geele Farm Trails in Waldoboro. Join in for a friendly run on a 1.6 mile loop through forest and field with many water views. An optional post-race breakfast at Village Bakery in Waldoboro will follow.
Most of the land the trail traverses is part of the Geele Farm, which was purchased by Charles A. Geele in 1886. Remains of old homesteads, including a brick cistern, foundations and an apple orchard are found throughout the farm.
All of the land is conserved through MVLT, and the 1.6 mile trail was built by volunteers last year. The trail system is open to the public year-round for low-impact recreation.
From U.S. Route 1, drive south on Route 32 for 2.7 miles, turn left onto Dutch Neck Road, then right onto Gross Neck Road. Parking and trailhead at the green gate on the right in 1.5 miles.
