Lincoln Academy girls’ lacrosse played two games over Memorial Day weekend with a player short. At times in the Eagles’ 16-15 loss to Camden, they played two players down, because of injuries and penalties. “We are very proud of the girls’ lacrosse team and their performance in both games this weekend,” coach Amanda Armstrong said.
Scoring for the Eagles in their one goal loss to Camden were Katrina Belle with 7, Celia Howland 4 and Sally Gardiner-Smith 4. Katie Riley made 19 saves in net for Lincoln. Scoring for Camden were Addie Drinkwater with 5, Julie Beauchesne 3, Caroline Matteo 3, Maddie Buckley 2, Mia Maddox 2 and Alice Flint 1. The Eagles scored their final two goals of the game within the final 24 seconds.
Lincoln lost to Mt.Valley 17-4 on Memorial Day in 80-degree heat. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but was cancelled because of the potential thunderstorm threat, and moved to a holiday. Belle netted 3 goals, and Lexi Fossett 1 for the Eagles. Scoring for the Falcons were Ayla Allen with 8, Tia White 3, Chelsea Bordeau 2 and Elizabeth Glover, Whitney Ruff, Nicole Lavorgna and Katie Puiia with a single each. Katie Riley had 31 saves in net for the Eagles.
Scoring for the Eagles were Katrina Belle with 5 goals and 1 assist, Celia Howland 3 goals, Lexie Fossett 2, and Grace Bibber and Miranda Sprague one each. Scoring for Gardiner were Jen Day 6, Brooke Davis 6, Becca Paradise 2, Julia Krauss 2, and Courtney Cotnoir one. Lindsay Smerdon made 16 stops for Lincoln and Shauna Molton 9 for the Tigers
