The Midcoast Sports Hall of Fame will induct eight new members during the fifth annual induction ceremony and banquet at the Rockland Elks Lodge Sat., Oct. 15. The 2010 inductees include the late Allan Middleton, late Gary Kenniston, David Ames, Anna Goodale, Scott Johnson, Darrill “Skip” Pound, Darryl Townsend and Robert Green.
Green was an outstanding multiple sport coach at both Waldoboro and Medomak Valley High Schools. He led the Panther baseball team to the 1970 Class B State championship and won four Knox-Lincoln League baseball championships at Wiscasset High School and Medomak Valley.
He also led the Waldoboro girls’ basketball team to a 34 game winning streak; led four different cross country teams to Knox-Lincoln titles; coached two Waldoboro High School boys’ basketball teams to tournament appearances; and coached the Medomak Valley wrestling team to its first win.
Green was also selected the 1971 Maine High School Baseball Coach of the Year, and was the first athletic director at Medomak Valley High School.
