The Lady Greyhounds bounded out of Wiscasset Monday night with a 34-32 win over the Wolverines. Denis Thomas converted off the offensive glass with 2:35 to go to give Lisbon the lead. Thomas grabbed her own rebound at the foul line with three seconds to go to prevent Wiscasset from taking the final shot.
Caroline Footer and Heidi Pinkham scored back to back three-pointers at the end of the 1st quarter to give Wiscasset a 9-4 lead. They led by as many as seven in the 2nd frame, before Lisbon rattled off eight straight late in the period to take a one-point lead. Brianna Goud scored on a Footer feed to put Wiscasset up by one at the half, 15-14.
Wiscasset led the entire 3rd quarter, and led 27-23 going into the final frame. Tenacious Greyhound defense from Lisbon’s Jessica Campbell stripped the ball from WHS the first three trips down the court.
Lisbon scored eight straight to lead by four. Kayla Connors scored on a Footer pass, and Footer settled a three, to give Wiscasset the lead. Thomas crashed the glass to give Lisbon the lead for good. Pinkham got off a three-point shot with eight seconds to go, but it went around the rim and out.
The Wolverines missed four straight foul shots, and Lisbon six in the final two minutes of play. Wiscasset made only 3 of 13 and Lisbon only 3 of 14 foul shots in the game.
Scoring for Wiscasset were Connors 9 (14R,2S,2A), Footer 9 (2R,4A), Pinkham 6, Goud 6 (6R,3S,2B), and Kasey Cromwell 2 (2R,2A,2S). Scoring for Lisbon were Campbell 10 (12R,8S), Thomas 10 (11R,3S), Alexa Harmon 9, Bailey Madore 3 and Sarah Giraldi 2.
Scoring for Wiscasset were Connors 16 (12R,2A), Pinkham 12 (5R,2A,3S), Goud 10 (12R,3A,2S,3B), Miranda McIntire 2 and Footer and Kayla Gordon one each. Scoring for Carrabec were Emma Pluntke 19, Joslyn Jackson 13, J. Vaillancourt 10, N. Cole 5, N. Andrew 5 and S. Murray 2.
