Attracting serious runners and recreational walkers, families and kids, the Strawberry Shortcake Shuffle to benefit Healthy Kids annually brings community spirit to Damariscotta during the Fourth of July weekend.
This year’s ninth annual charitable event is Saturday, July 6 at the Great Salt Bay School.
Over the years, the race has attracted 300 participants, including Kieve and Wavus campers, local families, and runners from all over the country. And the race is professionally timed.
“One hundred percent of proceeds from our event are donated to Healthy Kids to help provide programs on parenting and child abuse prevention to over 1500 yearly throughout the county.
“The programs serve children, parents, teens and professionals. And there is no greater investment than our children,” said Leslie Livingston, executive director. Healthy Kids receives no state or federal funding.
The shuffle is a great time for everyone and rewards all with free home made strawberry shortcake. There are prizes for races category winners and custom race bibs for all.
