Knox Suburban scored three runs in the 6th to defeat Lincoln County 9&10 Little League baseball all-stars 14-12 Monday night and eliminate them from the District 2 playoffs.
Seven pitchers took the mound in the game. Pitching for Knox were Korbin Daniels (3I, 3R, 5K, 2HP, 3B, 2H), Calin Roberts (2I, 4B, 1HP, 2K, 4H, 9R), and Dawson Allen (1I, 1K, 1B); and pitching for Lincoln were Gus Hunt (1 2/3I, 9B,3K,3H,9R), Bryce York (3 1/3I, 4B, 1HP, 7K, 2H, 1R), Zach Gamage (3B, 3R), and Zach Tozier (1K, 1H, 0R, 0B).
Knox jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the 1st on four walks and a two-run double to Allen and two-run single to Mike Kremin. They added five in the 2nd to take a 10-0 lead. Daniels hit an RBI triple, Riley Rapp and Drew Kelly walked in a run each, and Allen sacrificed in a run.
Lincoln got on the boards in the bottom of the 2nd when Bradley Cross and Sullivan Fink walked and scored when Hunt reached on an error.
Daniels scored for Knox in the third on an Allen ground out.
Lincoln scored one in the 3rd when Teddy Matel singled and scored on an Andrew Greenleaf double. They scored six in the 4th.
Tozier walked, Hunt was hit by a pitch and Chris Sullivan reached on an error to set up a two-run single o York, and two-run error to Cross. Tozier and Cross scored on passed balls. Lincoln took the lead with a three-run 5th inning. Tozier walked and scored on a Sullivan single. Matel singled and York walked to load up the bases for an RBI walk to Greenleaf. Matel scored on a passed ball.
Knox plated three runs in the top of the 6th on an error, two walks and RBI single to Kremin to win.
Hitting for Lincoln were Greenleaf a double and single, Matel with 2 singles, and Sullivan, and York a single each. Hitting for Knox were Daniels with a triple and single, Kremin 2 singles, and Allen a double and single.
