Lincoln County High School Eagles football team defeated Central Maine in China under the lights on Saturday in their regular season finale to end their season undefeated at 7-0. The local Eagles won 30-6.
After a big defensive stop on the two yard line, Stefan Nichols ran a 78 yard reverse to Central Maine’s 20 yard line. Chris Tilas faked a reverse and ran 20 yards for a touchdown on the next play.
Central Maine evened the score on the next series, before L.C. Eagles shut them down the rest of the way, led by Shane Butterfield and TJ Harriman.
Fourth and one on Central Maine’s eight-yard line, the L.C. Eagles converted for first down. Travis Creamer ran for a touchdown to give L.C. Eagles the lead for good on a nice block from Colby Wadleigh. Creamer carried two Central Maine players on his back into the end zone.
Tilas scored again in the 2nd quarter to give the local boys an 18-6 lead at the half. Nichols ran 80 yards for a touchdown in the 2nd half, and Nichols picked up his third TD of the game.
The freshman Creamer, “has his best game of his young career with all his yards coming at crucial times, and helping the defense in the 2nd half,” coach Gary Gravel said.
Tilas had 12 carries for 197 yards, Nichols had 147 yards rushing, and Creamer 76 yards rushing.
Newcastle Publick House Players of the Game were Shane Butterfield and Cy Miller for their play on both offense and defense.
The L.C. Eagles are top ranked heading into the playoffs.
