The Lincoln Academy Boosters held a successful auction Nov. 13, raising about $8500.
“A good portion of that will go toward the scoreboard,” said LA’s assistant athletic director Phil Page. The school’s scoreboard on the soccer/baseball field died mid-way through the soccer season and would only work for a half a game.
The cost of a new scoreboard is $6000 to $8000, with an additional $1500 to $2000 for installation. So far $750 have been donated to the fund, and Daktronics has given a $1000 discount on the purchase of the scoreboard.
Donations for the scoreboard can be made to Lincoln Academy Boosters, c/o Lincoln Academy, 81 Academy Hill Road, Newcastle, O4553.
“We give a big thank you to John Bottero,” Page said of the popular auctioneer, who has donated his time for years at the annual fall auction. Bottero was able to pull face value or more out of almost every single item up for auction.
“We did better than expected with a respectful attendance, especially considering there were two other fundraisers that night,” Page said.
