Lincoln Academy girls basketball team opened their KVAC season with a 56-46 win over Morse Friday night in Newcastle.
After a sloppy start, that saw 14 first quarter turnovers evenly split between the two squads, the score was tied 8-8. The Lady Eagles settled down to take a 22-14 lead.
Morse outscored Lincoln 8-4 down the stretch to pull within four
at the half, 26-22.
Lincoln exploded for 23 third quarter points, including three 3-pointers from Taylor Oliver to take a 49-32 lead into the fourth quarter. The Eagles held off the
Shipbuilders in the final stanza to win by 10.
