Lincoln Academy softball picked up wins over MCI and Leavitt last week to improve their record to 5-3.
Lincoln took a 3-0 lead in the 1st. Pennington hit a lead off homerun. Marni Jones singled, stole second and scored on a passed ball. Sarah Alley singled, moved over on a walk to Shania Creamer and scored when Laura Soohey reached on an error.
Sousa hit a triple and scored on a passed ball for MCI in the 2nd. Lincoln scored three more in the home half of the inning. Pennington doubled and scored on a Jones single. Alley and Rachel Hughes followed with RBI singles. The Eagles added two runs in the fifth on singles to Soohey and Hughes, sacrifice bunt to Morgan Scavetta, and two run single to Katherine Bolster.
MCI added their second run in the seventh on a double to Tople and RBI single to Smeddoul.
Hitting for Lincoln were Jones with 4 singles, Pennington with a homerun and double, Alley and Hughes 2 singles each, and Soohey and Bolster a single each. Hitting for MCI were Sousa a triple, Tople a double and Smeddoul and Losse a single each.
Lincoln took a 1-0 lead in the 4th when Soohey doubled and scored on a Creamer double. They added a run in the 5th on a double to Bolster and RBI single to Pennington.
“Katherine Bolster had a great game, Marni Jones had a good game behind the plate, and Amelia did a great job pitching,” coach Katie Nicholls said.
The Eagles completed a double play in the 3rd on a ground ball to Morgan Scavetta. Scavetta got out at first and Soohey threw to Alley at third, to complete the double play with a tag out.
Hitting for Lincoln were Pennington with 3 singles, and Soohey, Creamer and Bolster a double each. Hitting for Leavitt were Castonguay and Newton with 2 each, and Clarke, Treadwell and Waite a single each.
