A much improved Medomak Valley girls soccer team defended their home turf on Tuesday for a 1-0 win over Mt. View. The Lady Panthers improve to 3-8-2 with the win.
A scoreless first half saw Medomak out shoot Mt. View 10-2. The Panthers had two perfect corner kicks from Sammie Griffin roll through the box unmolested.
A Griffin corner kick set up the winning goal with 12 and a half minutes to play in the second half. Griffin’s boot landed two yards out in the center of the box, where Maggie Cox played it off her body and in. When the ball was half way over the goal line, a Mustang defender attempting to boot it out, hit it harder into the net.
Medomak held a 23-6 edge in shots. Chelsea Ripley made three saves for Medomak, and Logan Basford made 15 saves for Mt. View.
