Medomak Valley girls’ soccer team cruised into Newcastle Saturday night and strolled away with a 4-2 win, in the nightcap game of Lincoln Academy’s Homecoming. The Panthers are 4-3, and the Eagles are winless.
Medomak took an early lead less than a minute into the contest. Sami Griffin set up the goal when she found Julie Ennamorati open on the left wing. Ennamorati’s shot was deflected into the net by an Eagle defender.
The Eagles knotted the score four minutes before halftime on a shot from Hannah Nevens. Danielle Pinkham set up the goal with a pass to Carly Erskine on the right wing. A Medomak defender fell on a collision, which allowed Erskine to center the ball uncontested. Nevens one timed the ball in the box to beat Amanda Hendrickson-Belloguet low to the corner.
The Panthers scored the game winner two and a half minutes into the 2nd half on a Maria Ennamorati breakaway. J. Ennamorati scored her second goal with 25:26 to go when she put back a rejected Mallory Conary shot off a corner kick. Alanna Vose headed in the prettiest goal of the night on a cross from Conary with 10:36 to play to give Medomak a 4-1 lead.
Leslie Sandefur scored Lincoln’s second goal with 5:55 to play on a rocket from 25 yards to the upper left corner.
Medomak held a 21-11 advantage in shots. H-Belloguet made eight stops for the Panthers. Katie Riley stopped seven shots for the Eagles, and Laura Otterbein two.
