Medomak Valley girls’ basketball team opened their KVAC season with a 37-28 win over Oceanside Friday night at Medomak. The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 9-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, then played the Mariners even over the next three periods, leading 17-11 at the half and 27-29 at the end of three.
“We held Kennadi Grover, Georges Valley’s leading scorer for last year, scoreless. It was a defensive battle,” coach Randy Hooper said.
Scoring for Medomak were Alanna Vose 18 (6S), Mallory Conary 10 (2-3’s), Amanda Hendrickson-Belloguet 4, Taylor Simmons 3 (5R), and Mallory Robbins 2 (6R). Scoring for Oceanside were Jill Bradbury 8, Hannah Plourde 7, Phoebe Ferraiolo, Brooke Dugan 5, and Rachel Frye 2.
“We made a run and cut it to 10,” coach Randy Hooper said. “We got out-played. We have a lot of stuff to work on,” Hooper said.
Scoring for Medomak were Conary 9, Vose 9, Simmons 8, Robbins 7, Emily Leach 4 and H-Belloguet 3. Scoring for Rockland were Jordan Knowlton 19, Johanson 12, Porter 7, Steele 6, and Richards, French and Legage 2 each.
