Lincoln Academy boys’ cross country team clenched the eighth and final spot in the West Class B cross country championships to earn a berth at the State Class B meet to be held at Twin Brook in Cumberland on Oct. 29.
Start times for the West Regional races were changed at the last minute. Lincoln Academy athletic director KJ Anastasio received an email at 2 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 21 that the time for the Class B races had been moved ahead three hours.
Times for the State races have changed three times in the past few weeks, twice on Tuesday. Please consult local AD’s for latest updates on times.
Will Hadden qualified individually for States with a 24th place finish in 18:18. Teiga Martin qualified for the girls, placing 22nd in a time of 22:22.
Maranacook’s Abby Mace won the girls’ West B title, and Fryburg’s Silas Eastman won the boys’ title. Greely girls’ and Falmouth boys’ team won West B titles.
Hadden led the Eagles with a 24th placement in a time of 18:18. Nick Smelcer finished 35th, just five spots out of qualifying individually in a time of 18:41.
Alex Tomasello placed 41st in 19:06, Julian Frink 58th in 20:03; and Josh Richards 62nd in 20:13 to complete the scoring five. Also running for the Eagles were Nathan Osborne in 64th place in 20:15; and Tim Wells in 90th place in 22:05.
Also running for Lincoln girls was Hannah Fake, who placed 66th in 25:29.
Boothbay’s Chase Brown was West C runner-up in 16:16. Alex Owen placed 14th in 18:20; 19. Tom Brown, 18:53; 27. Robert Campbell in 19:14; 47. Ben Scully, 20:70; 57. Kade Smith, 20:52; and 59. Cameron White, 20:54.
Wiscasset had two runners compete. Kyle Shute placed 88th in 23:11 and Matthew Mills 89th in 23:23.
The West C girls’ race was won by Lisbon’s Meagan Thomas in 21:11. Merriconeag won the West C title with 41 points, followed by Waynflete 90, Dirigo 114, NYA 119, Monmouth 119, St. Dom’s 122, Boothbay 128 and Lisbon 129.
Boothbay had three girls qualify individually for the State Class C meet, including third place finisher Sophia Thayer in 21:25; 17. Morgan Crocker, 23:15; and 29. Maya Schwehm, 24:35. Also running for the Seahawks were Ashley Reed, 26:26 and 52. Allison Crocker, 26:36.
Wiscasset had two runners compete, 68. Megan Corson, 33:02 and 69. Alyssa Urquhart, 35:39.
