With only five returning veterans, Lincoln Academy baseball fields a very young team this season. The Eagles lost six seniors to graduation.
Returning coach Ryan Ball said the team will rely heavily on his ace pitcher AJ Oliver and Sawyer Pinkham. “I hope to get an inning or two out of a lot of (other) guys,” Ball said.
Tim Farrar, Spencer Alden, Devin Scherer and Travis Creamer will also see mound time. Wally Morris and Farrar will catch.
Ball looks for juniors Farrar and Oliver and sophomores Morris and Pinkham to get the job done at the plate.
“We are definitely a new team, a team that will keep improving as the year goes on and hopefully makes the playoffs. That’s the goal,” Ball said.
Thirty-six athletes tried out for the team. Ball kept 15 on varsity, including seniors Israel Daiute, Loring Schaible, Chris Gove, Luke Bibber and Casey Poland; juniors AJ Oliver, Tim Farrar, Brett Cowan, and Spencer Alden; and sophomores Sawyer Pinkham, Devin Scherer, Travis Creamer, Brady Leeman, Spencer Weiss and Wally Morris.
