Lincoln Academy girls’ lacrosse team opened up their season on the road at Gardiner with a 17-4 loss. The game was the first time the Lady Eagles have had the opportunity to get outside, as Lincoln’s field is unusable because of recent heavy rains.
“A lot of girls had not played together. There is only so much you can do in a gym,” coach Amanda Armstrong said. Gardiner took a 14-0 lead into the halftime break. Lincoln out scored Gardiner 4-3 in the second half “The second half they really came together and started playing as a team. It was nice to see. The second half they did a really nice job,” Armstrong added.
Katrina Belle had three goals and Charlotte Nutt one for the Eagles. Jenn Day netted five goals, and Brooke Davis three goals and six assists to lead Gardiner. Lindsay Smerdon made nine saves in net for Lincoln.
