The Lincoln Academy Eagles golf team won the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) championship Thursday afternoon, Sept. 30.
With a score of 160, Lincoln Academy (9-1) finished 16 strokes in front of its nearest competitor, the Belfast Area High School Lions.
“They’ve had a great season,” Coach Todd Brackett said after the team rang the Lincoln Academy bell Friday morning, Oct. 1.
The championship earns Lincoln Academy a bye into the state team championship Sat., Oct. 9. The team will still compete in a qualifier Tues., Oct. 5, so players can qualify for the state individual championship Fri., Oct. 15.
“We’ve got some really good talent,” Brackett said. “They’re going to do well.”
