Lincoln County 9&10 Little League baseball all-stars defeated Waldo 8-3 on July 9 in their opening game of the District 2 playoffs. Starter Eben Ward collected the win in three innings of work (7K,3B,1H,0R). Cody Cleveland pitched two innings (3K,1B,1HP,1H,2R), and Miles Wotton earned the save, striking out the side in the bottom of the sixth.
Waldo threw five pitchers, Sylas Skinner, Josh Wright, Declan Knowlton, Draedyn Furrow and Hunter Treat. They combined for 15 walks, 9 strikeouts, and 3 hits.
Lincoln jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings. They plated four runs in the first when Levi Farrin, Lord, Clevland and Josh Dualan walked and scored on passed balls. They added four in the second. Farrin walked and scored on a throwing error, Lord walked and scored on a passed ball, Cleveland walked and scored on a Wotton triple, and Wotton scored on a passed ball.
Waldo scored two in the fourth. Gage Ellis walked and scored on a Treat single, and Treat scored on a wild pitch. They added a run in the fifth when Knowlton reached on an error and scored on a Sylas Skinner fielder’s choice.
Hitting for Lincoln were Wotton with a triple, and two doubles. Hitting for Waldo were Furrow with a bunt single in the first, and Treat a single in the fourth.
Lincoln 19 – Five Town 9
Lincoln County 9&10 Little League all-stars defeated Five Town 19-9 by five inning mercy ruling to advance to the District 2 championship game with Oceanside.
Josh Dualan started (5R,2K), and Ben Sawyer (3R,2K) and Miles Wotton (1R,4K) pitched two innings each in relief in the win.
Hitting for Lincoln were Wotton with a triple and double (3RBI), Eben Lord a double and two singles, Levi Farrin a triple (3 RBI), Dualan two singles, and Liam Moss, Dawson Wall, Ben Sawyer, and Aidan Gallagher a single each. Hitting leaders for Five Town were Krem and Emerson with a double and two singles each.
Oceanside 13 – Lincoln 6
Oceanside defeated Lincoln County 9&10 Little League All-Stars 13-6 Monday night to force a second game for the District 2 championship and a berth in the state tournament. Oceanside relief pitcher Connor Calderwood collected the win (7K,1B,7H,3R), in relief of starter Noah Ames (.1I,1K,2B,1H,3R).
