Medomak Valley’s baseball team rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to squeeze out a 6-5 win over visiting Waterville on April 27. The Greenrose twins provided the firepower on the mound and at the plate with Isaac collecting the win, and Alex driving in the winning run.
Alex Greenrose (3H,4B,3K) and Whitten (8I, 5H,6K,2B) had a pitcher’s duel going through six innings. Whitten continued into the ninth, and Alex was relieved by his twin Isaac (3I,4H,2K,4B) in the seventh. Bouchard came in for Waterville with two on in the ninth and gave up the losing run.
Waterville took a 1-0 lead in the second when Bouchard doubled and scored on a Beckin ground out. Medomak tied the game in the third when Kyle Durkee singled, and scored on an A. Greenrose single.
Waterville retook the lead in the top of the sixth when Bouchard singled home Bishop. A. Greenrose answered the threat in the home half of the inning with a solo homerun to tie the score at 2-2.
After two scoreless innings, Waterville scored three runs in the top of the ninth. Wood sacrificed in Fitzgerald. Sawyer doubled and Whitten walked to load up the bases for a two run single to Locke.
Waterville gave Medomak’s John Murray and Shane Osier freebies on errors on their first two times at bat in the bottom of the ninth, and Medomak made them pay big.
Pinch hitter Adam Lynch hit an RBI single scoring pinch runner Ryan Ripley, and Isaac Durkee singled to load up the bases. Brandon Soper walked in Osier to pull Medomak within one. A. Greenrose cranked a two run double to center field to drive in Lynch and Durkee for the tying and winning run.
Hitting for Medomak were A. Greenrose with a homerun and two singles (4RBI), and I. Durkee, K. Durkee, Lynch and Osier with a single each. Hitting for Waterville were Bishop three singles, Bechard a double and single, Sawyer a double, Locke and Veilleux a single each.
Soper walked and tied the score for the Panthers in the top of the seventh. Leavitt scored the game winner in the bottom of the inning when Zach Frost was hit by a pitch and scored on a Jake Ouellette single.
Hitting for Medomak were Osier and Kyle Durkee with 2 singles each, and Isaac Durkee, Soper, and Murray a single each. Hitting for Leavitt were Jake Irish, Ouellette and Tim Dow with two singles each, and Matt Bicodeau a single.
Medomak scored both their runs in the bottom of the inning. Isaac Durkee singled, Alex Greenrose doubled and both scored on an Isaac Greenrose double.
Gardiner added 3 runs in the second, 5 in the third and 2 in the fourth to end the game early. I. Durkee, A. Greenrose, Chris Parlin and Adam Lynch pitched in the loss and combined for (10H,4K,12B). Allen collected the win for Gardiner (6H,7K,1B) and Mike Phelps pitched the fifth inning.
